The Safety Plan Topic: Injury and Illness Prevention Program

Training Required For: Contractors and Fixed Site Operations.
Injury and Illness Prevention Programs are required for all employers in California, including Contractor and Fixed Site Operations. We have covered this topic in our SCBA newsletters but here is a chance to provide information to your employees in a short safety meeting format.  It is vital that your people understand the basic requirements of the IIPP and how it applies to your actual operations.  This is an area that is always part of OSHA employee interviews and an item that is a frequent citation.

Your Southern California Builder’s Association has formed a Trenching and Shoring/Competent Person class on April 6th  at the Whittier SCBA offices on Painter Avenue.

Training Required For:

  1. Trenching Contractors,
  2. Electrical Contractors,
  3. Plumbing Contractors,
  4. Landscaping Contractors
  5. Excavating Contractors or
  6. Any Contractors who work on jobs with trenches or excavations or
  7. who supervise employees/subcontractors involved in these activities

Make sure you know and understand the regulations and responsibilities as trench collapses make the news and owners can find themselves in court or heavily fined
